Trillium Festival at Tryon Creek

Portland's beloved spring celebration in one of the city's only remaining old-growth forest corridors — western trillium carpeting the shaded slopes in white three-petaled flowers.

About the festival

The Trillium Festival has been held at Tryon Creek State Natural Area since at least 1981 — one of Portland's longest-running community nature events. The 2026 edition falls on the first Saturday of April. Western trillium (Trillium ovatum) carpets the shaded slopes in white three-petaled flowers — a plant that takes 7–10 years to bloom and can live for decades.

Tryon Creek is one of Portland's only remaining old-growth forest corridors, managed as a state natural area within the city limits. The festival is organized by Friends of Tryon Creek.

What to expect

The festival is free, relaxed, and centered on the native plant sale and forest walks. General admission runs 10 AM–3 PM. Friends of Tryon Creek members get early access 8–10 AM with breakfast and a preview of the plant sale.

Features include a native plant sale by Bosky Dell Natives, the Poppy & Finch mobile botanical studio (custom plant potting on-site), educational stations around the Nature Center and trails, and interactive activities for all ages. Parking is limited — carpooling is strongly encouraged.
